This programme permits a wide range of advanced module choices across the School of Mathematics & Statistics. There are two semesters of taught courses, followed by a dissertation (MT5099) from June to August. Most modules for the MSc in Mathematics are traditional semester-long lecture courses with end of semester exams, but some modules have a large element of continuous assessment. Students have the possibility of enrolling into an Independent Study Module (MT5990) in either semester or into the Professional Skills for Mathematical Scientists Module (MT5991) for the whole academic year. In both modules students will self-study under the guidance of a member of staff. Both modules are assessed by continuous assessment.
